Philo met Juan Zuñiga this past summer while trekking through Colombia. He quickly became a dear friend and confidant. As we learned more about each other we understood eachother’s passion for the arts. Specifically, he works in clothes design. After years of working with the indigenous communities he aims to authentically reflect aspects of their culture in his work. This is done in an effort to bring awareness to their lifestyle and current situation. Their situation being one that has risen from years of social marginalization, cultural sabotage and poverty. He created the outfit and the handbag depicted in the pictures below for women that desire to be daring and feel connected to their Colombian roots. Working with him and his team atop the roofs of Pereira was an inspirational and enlightening experience. Please enjoy the pictures below. If your interested in any of his products let Philo know. If your interested in finding more artists that use their medium for social advocacy then see our newsletter here.
