Ron Mulvihill

Hello Philo followers! Today’s post is about Ron, an established director, producer and adventurer. His unusual story begins as a Biology student looking to travel abroad. After some searching he found himself in Africa at a University that didn’t have a biology program. So he decided to major in drama without any message to his home university. Little did he know, stage drama had become the epicenter of social critique. Students brought light to the issues of hypocrisy and injustice. Participating in these events opened Ron’s eyes to his own countries involvement and impassioned him to begin capturing authentic African lifestyle through the lens. His original works have received substantial recognition and are currently used all around the world in courses concerning African culture.  He recently won the The Golden Dhow  at the Zanzibar International Film Festival for his newest movie Maangamizi: The Ancient One. Please take the time to learn more about this director and his culturally revealing work.
