Help Protect LGBTQ+ Youth!

Doing our part to spread this message from our friends at The Center:

Pending rules will strip away their rights in public schools

Call the Department of Education TODAY to keep Title IX protections!

Last year, the Departments of Education and Justice came out with groundbreaking guidance that told schools not to discriminate against trans students. Now, that guidance is at risk of being reversed.

Will you join us in telling Secretary Betsy DeVos why she must not rescind this life-saving guidance?

CenterLink is working with NCTE and a coalition of organizations to organize calls to Secretary DeVos today. Not only is the trans guidance at stake, but we and our colleague organizations are also worried about Secretary DeVos rolling back guidance about sexual assault and harassment.

Join us, and thousands of other people around the nation, to call Secretary DeVos RIGHT NOW.

Tell her why it’s so important to enforce Title IX protections for trans youth – and for all survivors of sexual harassment and assault. We know we’re up against a hostile administration, and your voice will help put pressure on them.

To make things easier, here are three simple steps:

  1. Pick up the phone. Call (202) 401-3000.
  2. Say why Title IX is important. Here’s a sample script, but feel free to add details about your own experience, or your family’s.

Sample Call-In Script

Hi, my name is [your name] and I am from [State].

I am calling because I care about Title IX’s protection of students’ rights to go to school in a safe environment, free from discrimination and violence.

Please tell Secretary DeVos that I want the Department to keep in place Title IX guidance on protecting transgender students from discrimination and preventing and addressing sexual harassment and assault.  I also want the Department to continue its strong enforcement of Title IX and to keep publishing the list of schools under investigation for Title IX violations.

[If you have any additional comments, you can add them here].

3. Spread the word. See if you can get 5 of your friends to call in as well.
4. Let us know you called: Like or share our Facebook and Twitter posts!

Thank you so much for doing this and for all of your support. Let’s keep fighting. And fighting together.
